4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25 at Perry businesses.

Granger Movie in the Park

7:30 p.m. p.m. Friday, Aug. 25 at Centennial Park, Granger.

Come out to Centennial Park for the movie "Top Gun Maverick" on Friday, Aug. 25. Granger Parks and Recreation will be offering free popcorn during the movie. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged.

Dallas Center Fall Festival

Aug. 25-26 in Dallas Center.

The Dallas Center Fall Festival returns on Aug. 25-26 with a Feelin Groovy at the 2023 DC Fall Fest theme. The event will feature a carnival, parade, sand volleyball, cornhole and pickleball tournaments, dog mayor contest, car show, pedal pull, 5K and toddler trot, bingo, live music, fireworks and more. Find more information on the DC Celebrations Facebook page or website. Carnival tickets are also available for pre-sale through 5 p.m. on Aug. 25 at local Dallas Center businesses, including Sugar Grove Goods, Kids Korner, Medicap, Raccoon Valley Bank, The Baker's Pantry and the library. Proceeds from all pre-sale tickets will go towards the cost of the carnival.

Granger Days

Aug. 26 in Granger.

Granger Days will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Centennial Park. There are many fun events planned for people of all ages which include children’s inflatables, chicken bingo, dunk tank, axe throwing, parade, bags tournament, sand volleyball tournament, pizza, pints & puzzle, music by Spotlight Entertainment DJ Service, vendor village, live music by Passing Zone featuring Tom Acton, beer tent, food trucks, a movie in the park and fireworks. ¡Viva Perry! Latino Festival

10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 at Pattee Park.

Hispanics United for Perry will present the annual ¡Viva Perry! Latino Festival on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Pattee Park. The parade will kick off the festivities at 10 a.m. The parade, open to anyone looking to participate, will go down 10th Street and Willis to Pattee Park. Kids activities will be offered from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other activities include music, dancers, food, vendors and more throughout the day.

Adel Movie in the Park

Sundown on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Evans Park, Adel.

Adel Parks and Recreation will bring community members free movies in the park this summer. The final movie shown will be "Lightyear" on Friday, Aug. 26. The family-friendly showing will begin at dusk. Attendees should bring their own blankets/chairs, drinks and snacks. Popcorn will be provided.

100+ People for Perry Meeting

7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28 at Hotel Pattee.

The 2023 3rd Quarter 100+ People for Perry Meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 28. One Hundred+ People for Perry’s mission is to invest in Perry’s future through supporting current charities/nonprofits/worthy projects which advance the quality of life and the betterment of the Perry community. The goal of 100+ People for Perry is to make four large donations each year, which will impact our community. Only members may attend and present. New members are welcome. Presentations are non-electronic and will include project details, other current and potential funding sources, and how the cause will advance the quality of life in the community and the betterment of Perry. Pledges will be collected at the conclusion of the meeting. Prairie Awakening - Prairie Awoke Celebration

3-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Kuehn Conservation Area.

The theme of this year's celebration will be “All of my Relatives.” We are inviting back relatives that have been a huge part of the family created by the celebration. Bryan Akipa, native flute, will again bring his stories and music to the prairie. Dallas Chief Eagle will share his Hoop Dance presentation and an audience-participation Hoop Dance with a bonfire. Mike HeCrow will share ethnobotany wisdom of the prairie’s plant relatives. A rehabilitated raptor and tagged migrating monarchs will be released. As traditions direct, we will sit together, in the tallgrass prairie arena at Kuehn, remembering and visioning a hopeful tomorrow. Bring a lawn chair. Celebrate CyDay Friday with Dallas County Extension

Friday, Sept. 8.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Dallas County will be participating in CyDay Friday on Sept. 8. To celebrate CyDay Friday, we are drawing to deliver two gift baskets, one to an individual and one to a business. Registration for baskets is open now until Aug. 31. The individual basket includes ISU Extension Coffee Mug, ISU Extension Tumbler, The Rooted Bean Coffee and Decorative Basket. Register for the individual basket: go.iastate.edu/TUAH1F. The business basket includes Hershey's Chocolate Syrup, Smucker's Caramel, Maraschino Cherries, Sprinkles - Red & Gold, Whipped Cream Topping, Ice Cream and Decorative Basket. Register for the business basket: go.iastate.edu/OFDGCV. All entries must be entered by 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 31. Winners will be drawn and contacted on Sept. 1.
