Weekend construction to disrupt Sacramento light rail. Here’s where and when

Sacramento Regional Transit announced upcoming travel disruptions to its light rail lines, as it works to meet new low-floor requirements.

The modification is part of the light-rail modernization project. Bus bridges — or shuttle buses — will be in use as construction starts over the weekend.

Here’s what you should know if you’re using public transportation in the coming days.

What rail lines will be disrupted?

Both gold and blue lines will undergo disruptions over the weekend. RT is working in phases to meet new low-floor light rail requirements. Once the gold line has been modified to meet requirements, other stations will also undergo temporary closures.

Where is the construction happening?

Construction over the weekend is expected for platforms at the 8th and O Station and the Sacramento Valley Station.

Bus bridges will be in service all day Saturday and until 11 a.m. Sunday depending on the Kings’ possible Game 7 schedule, according to the Sacramento Regional Transit website. The service change will also be in effect May 6 and 7.
