Weekend Roundup: Vaughn's late goal lifts Norwayne past Northwestern

In a matchup between two of the top teams in the WCAL, the Huskies stormed out of the gates, scoring twice in the first five minutes on a pair of Taelyn Lambert goals.
However, the Bobcats offense could not be held off forever. Norwayne eventually took a 3-2 lead goals by Maria Rickett, Madicyn Rupp and Shelby Vaughn before Florida Blake tied it up for the Huskies.
A draw would have been a worthy result, but Vaughn had no interest. She scored the go-ahead goal at 28-minute mark of the second half and the Bobcats held off Northwestern's charge in the final minutes.

Boardman Spartan Invitational
Jaylee Wingate is used to winning every time she steps onto a track or cross country course, even if it's against some of the best competition in the state. The Norwayne standout won once again, placing first in the Division II girls race as the Boardman Spartan Invitational, beating out 320 other runners.
Smithville's Kaitlyn Carr and Waynedale's Jackson Varner also had noteworthy performances, placing in the top 10 of their respective races.

Zeke Galbraith added his home invitational to his list of wins as West Holmes' boys and girls both captured the team titles at the Nanny Goat Invitational.
Noelle Smith also continued her season to remember, placing first in the girls race as the Knights ran away with a dominant victory, claiming five of the top 10 spots.
