NCC MEET

Logansport defeated Anderson 5-0 and Muncie Central 5-0 and had a 3-2 loss to McCutcheon to place seventh overall.

Cooper Smith went 3-0 on the day at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles.

"Seventh place finish in the NCC, unfortunate after many 3-2 losses and accuracy limitations of divisional seeding," Logan coach Adam Thompson said. "We have everyone back next year and will be looking to move up significantly."

VOLLEYBALL

LEO INVITE

Pioneer went 3-1 on the day. The Panthers beat Woodlan and Fort Wayne Snider in two games and Mount Vernon in three games. They had a tough three-set loss to Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian.

GIRLS SOCCER

LOGAN 9, MARION 0

The Berries (7-6, 3-3 NCC) poured it on in a win over visiting Marion.

Isabel Padilla had a hat track for Logansport. Gracie Henderson and Alexsa Herrold scored two goals apiece. Taylor Hamm and Kimberly Toloza each added a goal.

Cassidy Cuppy, Yadira Alvarado and Emily Melgar each had an assist.

BOYS SOCCER

MARION 7, LOGAN 3

The Berries dropped to 3-9 and 2-4 in the NCC with a loss to visiting Marion.

Brandon Diaz, Hodge Turner and Humberto Baez each had a goal for Logan. Yasiel Zarate had an assist.

Logan coach Mike Turner said his team got off to a bad start.

"Salvador Moreno was fouled and injured in the first three minutes. A penalty was given and senior Humberto Baez missed it wide. That set the tone for the day. We were down 4-1 at the half," Turner said. "Two minutes into the second half Marion scored again. We really struggled with our mentality after giving up early goals. We are young and taking our lumps.

"On the bright side, Brandon Diaz and Hodge Turner both scored from the midfield position each with their second varsity goals. Humberto Baez got back on the scoring end in the final two minutes. No one gave up or quit. We have grit, now we just need some mental toughness and to bring it together."
