Sep. 28—The first full weekend of fall will bring a great weekend to central Indiana. Friday's high of 75 will bring some heavy clouds early. Saturday and Sunday are near perfect with high temperatures of 80 and 81, respectively. No rain in the forecast all weekend.

Lon Chaney's 'Phantom of the Opera' at Paramount

On National Silent Movie Day: The Phantom of the Opera starring Lon Chaney will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the historic Paramount Theatre, 1124 Meridian Plaza, Anderson. Ken Double will accompany on the Page Organ. The concert also celebrates the Bicentennial of the City of Anderson. Double has donned a lot of hats over his career — sportcaster, concert organist, administrator and entertainer.

Animal blessing by Unity Church at APL

In honor of the feast of St. Francis, the Animal Protection League will welcome a team from Unity Church of Anderson on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at the APL office at 613 Dewey St., Anderson. The Unity team will dedicate a Statue of Saint Francis, the patron saint of animals, and offer a blessing to APL's cats and dogs.

Paint the Night Pink set for Saturday at speedway

The annual Paint the Night Pink event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Anderson Speedway, with the racing of the Ford Division Triathlon, Noble Wine & Spirits ThunderCars, and Front Wheel Drives. Admission is $15 per person and racing gets underway at 7 p.m.

Countywide pickleball tournaments set for Saturday

Play pickleball and represent your town. Free to compete on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. at Shadyside Lake Recreation Center, Elwood YMCA, Lapel Middle School tennis courts, Pendleton Community Sports and Wellness.
