Weekend things to do: A new hidden bar in Flagler Village, drinking with dogs
This is opening weekend at Lost & Found Sistrunk, a rum lounge and speakeasy in Fort Lauderdale debuting on Thursday inside Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery near Flagler Village.
Aside from the allure of a bar with a hidden entrance (through the Flower Shop), Lost & Found has a full bar with more than 75 varieties of rum and other spirits. Featured will be Shady’s 12 Mile Rum and Shady Vodka from Jonny Verplanck’s Shady Distillery, which opened last fall in the back of the sprawling warehouse that is home to Sistrunk Marketplace.
Cocktails at Lost & Found will be directed by head mixologist Tania Duprey, who promises a one-of-a-kind experience, especially for rum enthusiasts.
“At its core, Lost & Found is a local getaway tucked within a neighborhood,” Duprey said in a statement. “Our hope is that guests will be intrigued by our variety of rums and open to expanding ... [to] something new.”
Lost & Found also will be the setting for Shady Distillery Dinners, part of Dine Out Lauderdale through the end of September. The four-course dinners include a tour of Shady Distillery.

Weekend laughs
In its list of the 50 Best Stand-up Comics of All Time, Rolling Stone had a spot for Russell Peters (No. 44) and described him as “arguably the first truly global stand-up superstar.” It may surprise you that Peters is playing the intimate confines of the Palm Beach Improv in West Palm Beach this weekend, with shows at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Friday and 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday. It also may surprise you that tickets ($50, plus drinks) are still available. The late, great Fort Lauderdale bar known affectionately as Internationally World Famous Treasure Trove is gone, but there are places where Fort Lauderdale is still about flip-flops and acoustic guitars. Grandview Public Market at the Warehouse District in West Palm Beach hosts the Hops and Hip-Hop Beer Fest 5-10 p.m. Saturday, with dueling DJs and unlimited beer tastings from top local breweries, with all proceeds going to Light the Night and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The World Famous Parrot Lounge will host its monthly Dogs, Beaches and Brews happy hour 5-10 p.m. Friday.
