You don’t summer in South Florida unless you’re a local, right? As we slip into June, this is about the time when we can pause to appreciate local pleasures and the people who create them. The Sentz brothers at Funky Buddha Brewery, man-about-downtown-Fort-Lauderdale Andrew Martineau, personable chef Lindsay Autry in West Palm Beach, local-music ringmaster Dan Bonebreak, who has helped organize a gathering at The Lion & Eagle Pub in Boca Raton. They deserve our support.

THURSDAY

Gotta have that Funk:The Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park on Thursday will kick off a 10-day commemoration of its 10th anniversary, while also celebrating its new-old ownership — local founders Ryan and KC Sentz are reacquiring the business from Constellation Brands. Anniversary events include special bottle releases, pairings (including one with Wilton Creamery), trivia and karaoke nights, a beer dinner and more. Visit FunkyBuddha.com.

Heat > cold:If ESPN is looking to shoot the most telegenic watch party for the Heat-Nuggets NBA Finals that get under way Thursday night, it’ll be hard to beat The Wharf, the outdoor hotspot tucked among the towers along the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Did you know that every day this weekend will begin in the low 50s in Denver? The Wharf will show Heat games on a big screen (sound on) throughout the NBA Finals. Visit WharfFTL.com.

FRIDAY

Pigging out: Acclaimed chef Lindsay Autry (multiple James Beard Foundation nominations, “Top Chef” finalist) will host a Pig Pickin’ feast at The Regional in West Palm Beach on Friday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Autry will feature her hickory-smoked pulled pork prepared in the style of her native North Carolina, with classic Southern sides. Summer-inspired cocktails and desserts will be available a la carte. Visit EatRegional.com.

Mezcal mania:A four-day celebration of the prized Mexican elixir, Mezcal Lauderdale will take place Friday through Monday at the recently renovated and reinvigorated Canyon restaurant in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Among the special mezcals worth checking out will be bottles from LeBron James, Maluma and Lenny Kravitz. Ticket prices vary by event. Visit MezcalLauderdale.com. Tip: If you find your favorite Mezcal Lauderdale event sold out (inevitable), Martineau says that many of the top mezcals he’ll be serving can be found across the street at Primo Liquors & Fine WIne (700 S. Federal Highway), which has a well-earned reputation for that kind of thing. Visit PrimoLiquors.com.

SUNDAY

Shady brunch:Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s longest picnic, also known as the Sunday Jazz Brunch, unspools 11 a.m.-2 p.m. along the north bank of the New River, from Esplanade Park on past the new House on the River restaurant, which has an inviting outdoor brunch of its own. If you are looking for a snack to enhance a blanketed meal in a shady spot by the water, check out the baked goods at French bakery La Ville Rose, on the east side of the House on the River.
