Volleyball: Sioux Valley wins, Warner tops field in Redfield Pheasant Classic

Here is the this week's schedule of area high school volleyball matches:

BERESFORD — Sioux Valley improved to 14-5 with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-11 and 25-17) high school volleyball win over Beresford on Saturday.

Leaders for the Cossacks included Sunny Hesby with 17 assists and 11 digs; Ashley Bjerke 14 assists, seven digs and one solo and three block assists; Kaedyn Sapp, nine kills and 21 digs; Adison Renkly, nine kills, 11 digs and five block assists; Talya Vincent, 16 digs; and Landree Wilson, 10 kills.

Maddie Erickson and Megan DeLay each had seven kills for Bersford. Larissa Tiedeman contributed 15 assists and nine digs and Rachel Zanter 16 digs.

Redfield Pheasant Classic: Top-rated Class B Warner went 4-0 to claim the championship in the Redfield Pheasant Classic.

Nine teams competed. After two pool play matches, they were placed in either the Gold, Silver or Bronze Pool. Warner topped Miiller and Redfield to win the Gold Pool. Belle Fourche won the Silver Poolover Florence-Henry and Waverly-South Shore and Timber Lake won the Bronze Pool over Potter County and Waverly-South Shore.

Florence-Henry (17-5) went 2-2 in the tourney, Webster Area (11-8) 1-3 and Waverly-South Shore (2-17) 0-4.

Jersey Johnson made 40 digs in the four matches for Webster Area. Gracie Cadwell and Kara Kwasniewski each had 10 or more kills, Baylie Somsen four-plus aces, Elliott Steiner 12 assists, Katie Braun nine assists and Erin Sannes five solo blocks and three block assists.

Clark-Willow Lake 3, Great Plains Lutheran 0: Sami Brenden's 17 good serves with three aces and 12 assists guided Clark-Willow Lake (6-8) to the 25-20, 25-21 and 25-19 win. Summer Seefeldt added 16 good services with an ace, Haylee Tormanen five kills, Avery Lee five digs, Shay Michalski three blocks and Sara Thonvold 2 blocks for the Cyclones.

Leaders for the Panthers included Madeline Prahl with two aces, Kaitlyn Rawerts 13 assists, Kyrie Roberts 11 assists, Olivia Holmen eight kills and five blocks, Kim Goens six kills and Grace Powers 15 digs.

Wolsey-Wessington 3, Iroquois-Lake Preston 1: Mallory Miller's 11 kills and four blocks and Mya Boomsma's 11 kills and 11 digs lifted fifth-rated Wolsey-Wessington (13-3) to a 25-11, 13-25, 25-22 and 25-10 win. Leah Williams was 15-15 serving with nine kills and 10 digs, Lainey Uttecht 13-13 serving with 11 digs and Taylor Horn 8-9 serving with 33 assists. Kailyn Dorris also had four blocks.

The Sharks (3-10) were led by Adison Moore with three aces, nine kills and 17 digs. Becca Bich contributed two aces and 12 assists, Ava Malone four kills and 13 digs, Faith Steffensen four kills, Trinity Pirlet seven assists and six digs and Hadlee Holt and Anna Decker with three blocks apiece.

Britton-Hecla 3, Wilmot 2: The Braves (4-8) prevailed 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 15-25 and 15-7 over the Wolves (3-13).

Ellie Feldhaus produced five aces and three kills, Kaegan Fredrickson nine kills, Alyssa James seven kills, Jayden Bender 17 assists and Heather Storbakken six assists.

Flandreau 3, Deuel 0: Flandreau won the Lake Central Conference match 25-19, 25-9 and 25-17, improving to 6-14 overall and 1-2 in the LCC. Deuel slipped to 5-10 and 1-4.

Lizzie Pavlis (nine kills, four blocks), Claire Sheppard (eight kills), Abby Schoeberl (22 assists and 12 digs), Sadie Iott (nine digs) and Addy Hammer (12 digs) paced the Fliers.

Deuel's leaders included Harley Hennings with seven kills, Josie Andersen 11 assists, Annika Kriz 15 digs, Isabel Schake seven digs, Gracie Fieber six assists and Emma Sattler three kills.
