What's ahead this week in the Augusta-area? Concerts including performances by award-winning musicians Amy Grant and Justin Moore as well as a show by the Augusta Chorale recognizing wars of the world. For a different kind of show, Jessye Norman Amphitheater is hosting a youth talent show with proceeds benefiting adolescents' health. Across the river, the Augusta GreenJackets are playing a full week of home games. On the other side of town, Augusta Regional Airport is organizing a special event that allows guests to catch a ride on a historic airplane. Here are more details on these and other upcoming festivities:

Country artist Justin Moore's concert is at 7:30 pm. Friday, May 27, at the Bell Auditorium on Telfair Street in Augusta. He was 2014's Academy of Country Music "Artist of the Year." Some of his hit songs include "If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away" and "We Didn't Have Much." Augusta Partnership For Children is having its Augusta CAREs Youth Talent Showcase at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at the Jessye Norman Amphitheater along the Riverwalk at Eighth Street. Donations help the Augusta CAREs initiative, which promotes mental and physical health for adolescents.

Augusta Choral Society is organizing a special concert that honors Memorial Day and remembers wars across the world, including the one in Ukraine. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at Sacred Heart Cultural Center on Greene Street in Augusta. Tickets can be bought online at augustacs.org. A portion of the sales will be donated to a Ukrainian Relief Fund through the American Red Cross.

Enopion Theatre Company is putting together a show of the Bible story of Cain and Abel to be staged May 27-July 21 at the theater on Commercial Court in Martinez. For showtimes and tickets, go online to enopion.com.

Le Chat Noir's theater team will be putting on a show of the Olivier Award-winning comedy "The Play That Goes Wrong" at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26; Friday, May 27; and Saturday, May 28. Le Chat's theater is on Eighth Street in Augusta. Get tickets at simpletix.com.

Augusta GreenJackets

The Augusta GreenJackets are back at home this week with games now through Sunday, May 29, at SRP Park in North Augusta's Riverside Village. The local Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves will play the Myrtle Beach Pelicans with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. nightly through Friday, 6:05 p.m. Saturday and 1:35 p.m. Sunday. Aerial activities

The AirPower History Tour is coming to Augusta Regional Airport off Doug Bernard Parkway from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, through Sunday, May 29. Guests can check out or even fly in some historically significant planes, like the B-29 Superfortress and the P-51 Mustang Gunfighter. For more information, go online to airpowersquadron.org.

Artists are invited to monthly drawing nights with the next one from 7-9:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Le Chat Noir on Eighth Street in Augusta. Guests will be able to sketch or paint an aerial performer while enjoying music with a deejay and craft cocktails. Tickets are sold at the door.

Special movie screenings

Masters City Little League is hosting a movie night showing of DreamWorks' "The Bad Guys" at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 27, at the ball park on Phinizy Road in Augusta. Admission is free and families are invited to bring chairs and blankets.

Fathom Events is bringing some unique showings to Regal Theater at the Augusta Exchange. The director's edition of 1979's "Star Trek – The Motion Picture" is showcasing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25. The 45th anniversary of "Smokey and the Bandit" is being presented at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29.

Evans Cinema will be hosting more flashback movies with 1999's "The Mummy" at 1:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, and 2010's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" on Sunday, May 29. Showtimes for Harry Potter have not been released, as of Monday.

Voices of the Past

The Augusta Museum of History's "Voices of the Past" theater program runs every Saturday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and is free with museum admission. This weekend's re-enactment is loosely based on Cornelia Winfield whose story incorporates slave narratives, including life as a house slave before the Civil War and as a freedwoman after emancipation. The museum on Reynolds Street is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Aiken Memorial Day Parade

The annual Aiken Memorial Day Parade returns at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, in downtown Aiken at Laurens Street and Park Avenue. Decorated vehicles, floats, bands and more will salute America's service members.
