Weis Markets proposes new Harrisburg-area expansion, gas station

LOWER PAXTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — A Midstate Weis Markets plans to undergo a major renovation to increase the store’s size and add a new gas station.

According to Land Development Plans submitted to Lower Paxton Township, the Weis Markets located at 4300 Linglestown Road, will soon be undergoing some major renovations.

The submitted plans indicate that the currently 45,125 square-foot store would increase its size by an additional 11,575 square feet; bringing its total footprint to 56,700 square feet. These renovations would also include the construction of a new ‘Gas N Go’ fueling facility which would feature six total fueling positions.

To make this expansion possible, Weis Markets consolidated its current 10.7-acre parcel with a separate 9.3-acre parcel to the east of the store. This consolidation created one 20.158-acre lot, which will allow for the store expansion and the construction of the new fueling facility.

Weis Markets’ new Gas N Go will have a 200-square-foot kiosk with an attendant on hand.

Furthermore, Weis Markets confirmed during a February 20 Board of Supervisors meeting that customers will be able to redeem their Weis points at the new fueling facility.

Lower Paxton Township’s Planning Commission approved the plans back on Wednesday, February 7. Shortly after on February 20, the Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the plans as well.

According to a spokesperson with Weis Markets, although the company couldn’t comment on the project at this time, they did confirm that once the renovations begin, the store will remain open.

It is still unknown when the project will officially break ground.
