Welcome, little one: 2-pound baby klipspringer born at Brevard Zoo

Eagle-eyed visitors at the Brevard Zoo on Saturday were able to get a peek at the zoo’s newest resident.

Zoo officials said klipspringer Deborah, 6, gave birth around 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the zoo’s Expedition Africa exhibit before the pair were relocated to a behind-the-scenes area to get time to bond.

When staff examined the baby girl, they determined she’s in good health weighing just over 2 pounds.

Deborah and mate Ajabu, who is 8 years old, have had six offspring together, none of whom currently live at the Brevard Zoo.
