It's inspired by the native balloon flower

It has become a popular tourist attraction

Restaurants even serve purple rice

It's home to around 100 residents

and has attracted nearly half a million visitors

"Old people like us have lived a secluded life, since all of the young people left the town. But after we planted lavender, I'm glad to see young people and kids are coming, they are all like my grandchildren."
