Well, hello! The first babies of 2024 arrive in North Jersey

If being the first baby of 2024 was a race, then little Aaron Delacruzgainza blew past the rest of the field in New Jersey.

Aaron came into the world at the stroke of midnight at Holy Name medical center in Teaneck at 6 pounds, 3 ounces and 18.5 inches. His mom — Saolanne Delacruzgainza of North Bergen — was resting for much of Monday.

Although not all of New Jersey's 70 hospitals reported their first births of the year on Monday, it's safe to say Aaron is in first place or at the very least tied for first. But other babies weren't far behind.

Aaron Delacruzgainza may have been the first baby born in New Jersey in 2024. He arrived at midnight on Jan. 1 at Holy Name Medical Center. Mother Solanne Delacruzgainza holds little Aaron while his father Jose Carlos Pena Lopez looks on.

Among the first to be born in 2024 was Krystal Jean, who came into the world at 12:12 a.m. at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

Krystal made quite the debut. She surprised parents Rachelle and Kieron by arriving 13 days before her due date. She weighed in at 5 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 17 inches long.

Other New Jersey babies born shortly after midnight include a girl at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch at 12:17 a.m. and another at 12:15 a.m. at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township.
