More than 100 guests gathered recently to attend Wellen Park’s inaugural Wedding + Special Events Expo at Solis Hall in Wellen Park.

A new event venue has opened in the Wellen Park community in North Port, offering the city's first waterfront venue for weddings, celebrations, or meetings.

Solis Hall is a 4,400-square-foot event venue that in downtown Wellen Park's 80-acre Grand Lake outdoor dining and entertainment destination.

New businesses in North Port's Downtown Wellen Park, a planned, mixed-use district in the growing south Sarasota County development continue to emerge this year, adding 10 new concept restaurants, including Irma's Tacos, Craft Beer and Tequila Bar, The Banyan House Restaurant, and Lakeside Bites.

Solis Hall offers an aesthetically pleasing space that features 25-foot ceilings, an outdoor stage overlooking the Great Lawn, outdoor gathering areas, porches, and patios along the water.

The event space is billed as ideal for weddings, receptions, and other social gatherings but also offers space for corporate events. The Solis Hall venue seats up to 150 indoors and up to 250 on the adjacent outdoor space, the Canopy Green.

Additionally, the new event venue offers one meeting room and a rooftop patio for alfresco seating or small receptions.

When not in use as a celebration space, Downtown Wellen Park will have events at the Solis Hall Great Lawn where visitors can bring chairs to dance, relax, and mingle to local music on Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m.

The green space has also launched weekly yoga from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Zumba classes from 9 to 10 a.m. on Mondays.
