Wells Fargo to move all workers from 2 uptown towers into former Duke Energy Center

Wells Fargo & Co. is exiting two of its East Coast division towers in uptown Charlotte.

The bank plans to move all workers from its offices at the One Wells Fargo and Two Wells Fargo centers by the end of the year, according to a letter sent to its Charlotte-area employees. Staff members in those towers will move into Three Wells Fargo Center and 550 South Tryon, formerly known as the Duke Energy Center.

Wells Fargo expects to assume space being vacated by Duke Energy Corp. this year, occupying 95% of the 550 South Tryon building. That building and Three Wells Fargo Center will undergo major renovations to offer its uptown employees a more modernized workspace with upgraded amenities.

The bank plans to rename both buildings at a later date, a spokesman confirmed.
