Wendell Green Sr. has spent significant time coaching his son Wendell Green Jr. throughout his life. It goes back to when the younger Green was 4 years old and they were living in Detroit.
As he grew up, Green Sr. coached his son's AAU team the Michigan Playmakers, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The elder Green's coaching continued even into the summer that Green Jr. entered college with the pair working on shooting each day in the driveway.

Wendell Green Jr. stats as Eastern Kentucky freshman
Wendell Green Jr. played his freshman season at Eastern Kentucky during the 2020-21 season.
Green played in all 29 games and started 25 of those contests. EKU went 22-7 overall and 15-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
He averaged 15.8 points, 5.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. Green earned OVC first-team all-conference in 2020-21. CollegeInsider.com named Green to its Freshman All-America Team.
Wendell Green Jr., Purdue's Jaden Ivey high school teammates
For Wendell Green Jr.'s senior season at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, he was joined by Jaden Ivey. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Ivey is now a guard for the Purdue Boilermakers.
"Wendell, he's a goofy kid," Ivey said to BallerTV in 2020 about Green. "His grandpa actually knew my grandpa, so some family ties kind of. But he's a great person, great person to be around and always laughing — always joking around. That's what I love about him most. He's so goofy."
Ivey averaged 15 points per game during the 2019-20 season at La Lumiere. Ivey played the first three years of his high school career at Marian High School in Mishawaka, Indiana.
"He's going to help us a lot," Green said to BallerTV in 2020 about Ivey. "If we need a bucket, we're going to Jaden for sure."

Wendell Green Jr., Detroit Pistons' Isaiah Stewart high school teammates
Wendell Green Jr. and Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart were high school teammates at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana.
Green transferred to La Lumiere School ahead of the 2018-19 season from Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, Michigan. The 2018-19 season was Stewart's final season at La Lumiere and Green's junior year.
In the 2019 high school national championship tournament, La Lumiere beat Oak Hill Academy 58-57 in the semifinals and then lost to IMG Academy 66-55 in the championship. The championship was played at Christ the King High School in Queens, New York.
Stewart then played one season of college basketball at Washington in 2019-20 before being selected in the 2020 NBA Draft.
