Lately, we've seen some fast food chains change the way they make or process their food. From Taco Bell offering lighter menu options to Burger King dropping soda from the kid's menu, there have been massive health reform in the world of fast food. Now another chain has decided to take a step in the right direction: Wendy's has dropped $30 million (yes, million) to combat customer complaints of dry and stringy chicken in their sandwiches and salads.

As Uproxx reports, Wendy's will work with chicken processors and suppliers to shrink the size of its chickens by as much as 20%. This is extremely important because larger chickens tend to yield rubbery, dry meat with those dreaded white stripes. In fact, modern day chickens weigh twice as much as their ancestors, and have much more fat.

Wendy's believes that these smaller chickens will yield tender, juicier meat. As Gail Venrick, senior director of protein procurement for Wendy's, told Business Insider, "It's about the texture and how juicy it is." The new fillets started rolling out in restaurants last month, and will be available at all locations by the end of the second quarter.
