Wendy Williams breaks silence on rumored behavior: ‘I’m not perfect’
‘I love entertaining you,’ Williams, who’s had past sobriety issues, told her audience, but ‘it’s not easy.’
Wendy Williams has broken her silence amid rumors that she has been intoxicated on the set of the hit talk show she helms.
During Monday’s episode of The Wendy Williams Show, Williams explained her bizarre behavior over the past week.

“I always say I love you for watching because I really, really do. I come here every day, and I try to do the best that I can for you,” Williams said.
“I appreciate you watching, but even after all of these years, it’s still work,” she continued. “An effort put in for the hour I’m out here, you know? I guess every day is not perfect, but I’m not a perfectionist. I’m not perfect.”

Rumors began swirling in earnest after the Oct. 23 episode of the show, where Williams appeared to struggle to walk to her seat. The 56-year-old also seemed to lose her train of thought and stammered through conversations with speech that appeared slurred.
DJ Boof, a former DJ on Williams’ show, spoke out on Instagram after a fan posted a photo of the pair, saying she would be boycotting the popular weekday program until Williams went to rehab.
When another fan suggested that Williams’ behavior was why Boof left the show, he responded.
“Yup, exactly and it will all come out..” Boof replied. “Y’all have no idea what’s really going on and everyone there is afraid to speak up because they don’t wanna lose their jobs.. this is going to play out bad.. I feel sorry for the workers and victims.”
On Friday, some of her fans had their say.

Addressing her fans on Monday, Williams said, “I do appreciate you putting in the effort to watch us, and I love entertaining you. You know? It’s not easy. It is not easy. You’re a tough crowd.”
Williams has struggled with a number of health scares and addiction issues since the 2008 debut of her show. In October 2017, she fainted during a Halloween episode. The following March, she took three weeks off to deal with issues from Graves’ disease and hyperthyroidism. She admitted struggling with addiction to cocaine in 2018, and in March of 2019, she revealed that she had been living in a sober living house and working with a sobriety coach.
