Wendy Williams called out for 'out of line' Meghan Markle criticism: 'You should be ashamed'

Wendy Williams has no sympathy for Meghan Markle.

The talk show host shared her opinion on the Duchess of Sussex's revelations in the new documentary, "Harry & Meghan: An African Journey," which premiered on ITV in Britain on Sunday and airs on ABC on Wednesday, during Tuesday's episode of "The Wendy Williams Show."

Per TooFab, Williams didn't believe Meghan's claim that she "didn't get" her friends' warnings that "the British tabloids will destroy your life," revealing that they told her she "shouldn't" marry Prince Harry because of the media coverage that would inevitably ensue.

"Yes you did. You knew exactly what you were doing," Williams said in response to the clip. "And I applaud her plot-ation on the royal situation. But please, don't try to garner sympathy from us. You knew what you were doing."

Williams then posited that the former "Suits" actress is "lying to try and get sympathy" amid negative coverage about her in the press and suggested that Meghan and Harry move to America to get out of the British tabloid spotlight if it's affecting them so intensely.

"Harry and Meghan have nothing to lose by moving to America. Why not? Move to America and live part time in Africa like you want to do. You have to still go back to England. Have a place in all three places," she suggested. "Have a mansion in Malibu, a big hut -- I've never been to Africa, I don't know -- a big hotel or wherever you're gonna live in Africa and then have your royal palace place in England."

"I like them, but her there's something about her, you know what I'm saying?" Wendy went on. "And you know what girl, Meghan, Meghan don't be surprised at the paparazzi are everywhere. Of course, because you're now a royal. They weren't following you when you were on 'Suits,' we didn't even know who you were except when you came for employment here at Wendy and wanted to be one of our runway models."

Williams was once again alluding to her claim that Markle once tried to be hired by "The Wendy Williams Show" to "be one of our models" before she met Prince Harry. She first told the story on her show back in July, claiming that "Meghan wanted to work here."

At the end of her segment this week, Wendy made a blanket statement that didn't go over too well with viewers on Twitter.

"Meghan, nobody feels sorry for you," she said. "You knew what you were signing up for girl!"

"[Wendy Williams'] statement about Meghan Markle is completely out of line & disrespectful," one viewer tweeted. "Way to be supportive of a mother under ten times more pressure than a 'regular' mom. You should be ashamed of yourself."

"Leave Meghan Markle out of it and stop insinuating she has other motives to be with the man she loves!" someone else said. "She's not asking [you] to feel sorry for her."

"Please don't hate on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry anymore than they are," a third user wrote. "Piers Morgan is doing that enough. 'Don't help him.' He is being ridiculous. The media is being evil to them."

Other took umbrage with her suggestion that Meghan and Harry should live in a "hut" in Africa.

"@WendyWilliams is way off base with her Meghan Markle and African 'hut' comments today," someone sounded off. "It’s quite disappointing."
