Wendy Williams' Ex-Husband Blames Her Show's Producers For Refusing To Help With Her Sobriety

Wendy Williams’ ex-husband Kevin Hunter is once again blaming The Wendy Williams Show producers for refusing to help Williams with her health.

The Jasmine Brand reports that Hunter said in an interview that Debmar-Mercury didn’t want to approve any type of help to support Williams’ recovery from addiction.

"Debmar would not support Wendy's recovery efforts with the family," he said. "They would not sign off on anything that would've helped her recovery efforts."

“They sat in a meeting with her whole family, including her now-deceased mom [who died in 2020] and would not sign off on the recovery efforts that would’ve helped Wendy also get well and live and be sober,” he continued. “They basically said, ‘If you don’t stop drinking, you’re going to lose the show.'”

Hunter's statements fall in line with other statements he's made blaming the producers for Williams' show ending. He said the show ended due to their "negligence…in regards to realizing how severe her health was."

Hunter has talked before about his anger towards the producers, saying in June that they should have involved Williams in the final episode.

“I feel like it is a travesty on the part of Debmar-Mercury to have such an unceremonious departure without Wendy being involved,” he said to Entertainment Tonight at the time. “A lack of professionalism throughout the process and in the way they are letting Wendy go out…After 13 years, the show has been made a mockery the last two seasons and the reasons the show is having its untimely [end].”

“It is the first time in the history of talk shows for this to be done, especially for a show that has been on for more than 10 years,” he added.

“There is absolutely no reason why a bigger celebration that involved Wendy couldn’t happen… I know the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making the show such a success, and I am not happy with the way the show is going out on a personal level, and I am truly sorry that the show’s fans have to see it go down the way that it is.”
