Wendy Williams' son arrested for assaulting his father: report

Wendy Williams' son has been arrested.

TMZ reports that the talk show host's 18-year-old son, Kevin Hunter Jr., was arrested early on Wednesday morning for assaulting his father, Kevin Hunter.

The outlet reports that the father-son duo got into an argument in a parking lot near their family home in New Jersey after Williams dropped her son off at the home to pick something up. She left briefly, and the duo went to a store where the conversation turned to Kevin Sr.'s reported demand for spousal support from his estranged wife.

Not only that, but TMZ says that the former couple's son lashed out after his father "urged" him "to carve his own path to success" and that "he needed to work hard on his own and without Wendy's handouts."

Kevin Jr. allegedly punched his father in order to break out of a headlock that he had put him in.

Cops were called to the scene, where they subsequently arrested Kevin Jr. for assault, though his father reportedly doesn't plan on pressing charges.

"I love my son very much and I will not be pursuing this matter legally," he told TMZ. "Things are not always how they appear."

Wendy Williams filed for divorce from Kevin Hunter back in April after he welcomed a child with his longtime mistress. She also fired him as executive producer from her talk show, "The Wendy Williams Show."
