McCourt and her fellow distinguished nurses will be recognized in a pregame ceremony at Fenway Park prior to the Red Sox matchup with the Houston Astros. Nurse.org is holding a public vote to determine which nurse will have the opportunity of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch of the game. Those interested in voting for McCourt can do so until May 11 by going to https://nurse.org/articles/nurse-appreciation-night-2019/.

McCourt has worked at Wentworth-Douglass since 2010 and has over 30 years of experience in pediatric nursing. While at Wentworth-Douglass, McCourt has continually advocated for pediatric care throughout the hospital and is active in the training of other pediatric nurses.

McCourt founded the hospital’s Cuddler Program, an innovative program that trains volunteers to provide physical comfort to infants born to mothers with substance use disorders. She also serves as Wentworth-Douglass’ Magnet program coordinator and helped to oversee the process that led to the hospital receiving Magnet Recognition in 2016 and 2021.
