We're 125 years old, and we still want your news and photos of your new family members

We want your news. Really!

And invitations to your parties, and photos of that adorable new grandbaby.

Really, we do.

But...

As the seasonal population of the island grows, the demand for coverage grows with it. Decisions regarding coverage are made by the newspaper's editor and are subject to space limitations.

SOCIAL CALENDAR

In keeping with our 125-year-old tradition as the newspaper of record for Palm Beach, the Social Calendar lists events that occur within the town limits, a geographical area bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Intracoastal Waterway to the west, the Lake Worth Bridge to the south and the inlet to the north.

Exceptions are made for events at the Kravis Center for the benefit of the Kravis Center; events at the Norton Museum for the benefit of the Norton Museum; and events for which the Palm Beach Daily News is a major sponsor.

Calendar listings are accepted by email only and should include the name of the benefiting charity, the name or type of event, start time, date and place, and the names of up to four chairpersons. A phone number to call for reservations may be included. If  the event is by invitation only and you wish the listing to indicate so, a telephone number will not be included. Information such as dress code, the names of honorees or well-known guest speakers also is welcome.

A venue will not be listed as private unless it is a residence.

In-store receptions or "percent of proceeds" events will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

To qualify for Social Calendar listing, events must support a charitable organization.

Submissions may be made by email to society editor Shannon Donnelly at sdonnelly@pbdailynews.com. Do not send as an attachment.

The deadline is noon Wednesday for publication in the following Sunday's Social Calendar.

Please include name and phone number (not for publication) of a person we can call for more information if needed.

Please note that we cannot accept Social Calendar items, corrections or changes by telephone.

PHOTO COVERAGE

Palm Beach Daily News photographer Meghan McCarthy

Whenever possible, we assign our Palm Beach Daily News staff photographers Damon Higgins and Meghan McCarthy to cover social events on the island. Please submit requests for coverage by email to the society editor. Please include the name and cellphone number (not for publication) of the on-site contact person for the photographer. Give us as much advance notice as possible.

Decisions about who and what should be photographed rest with the newspaper. You may, however, inform the photographer if someone newsworthy is in attendance. We will also accept a "shot sheet" of people to be photographed, although we cannot guarantee publication.

We publish the first and last names of men and women; for example Jane Doe rather than Mrs. John Doe.

Post-event summaries should be submitted to the society editor by email within three business days after the event. The information sheet should include the basics: who, what, when, where and why.  We welcome any details, such as names of prominent guests, that might be of interest to our readers.

Photo galleries of recent social events can be viewed online at www.palmbeachdailynews.com.
