We're on the lookout for a new Cosmopolitan photographer, here's how to apply

The world of fashion can feel impossible to break in to, so we wanted to open it up to everyone, whether you're in the highlands of Scotland or in the depths of the Cornish countryside. You don't need any professional photography experience, or a fancy camera and you can even submit images from your phone! Here's how...

How to enter

To enter, upload a maximum of three images to your Instagram profile with the hashtag #cosmophotocomp any time from the 31st August at 10:00 until 2nd October at 17:30.

Cosmo's brand ethos is all about sharing positive, uplifting messages to our readers - and entrants for the Cosmopolitan Photography Competition should follow the same philosophy. Through your work, think about how you can promote responsible messages about relationships, body image, diversity, sexuality or mental health.

Claire Hodgson - Cosmopolitan's Editor in Chief

Claire has worked on the Cosmopolitan brand for six years, with five years under her belt running all things digital. For the past year, Claire has also lead the charge on the magazine , as the brand's Editor-in-Chief. Prior to working at Cosmopolitan, Claire worked in various roles across print and digital for national newspapers and magazines.

Stuart Selner - Cosmopolitan's Creative Director

Stuart has been Creative Director at Cosmopolitan for the last 10 years and is responsible for overseeing the aesthetic of the magazine as a whole, including signing off all photographers we feature. Before Cosmo, Stuart held the same role at Marie Claire, ELLE and Arena and has worked in New York, launching FHM in America, and at Seventeen magazine. He's won PPA Designer of the Year and numerous other design awards.

Amy Bannerman - Cosmopolitan's Fashion Director

Amy oversees the aesthetic of the entire fashion section, edits our shopping pages and also proposes who shoots our fashion stories. Prior to Cosmopolitan Amy worked at ELLE, InStyle and has also styled for iD, Glamour and Sunday Times Style. Rita Ora, Carey Mulligan and Sophie Turner are among the many celebs she's styled.

Matthew Eades - Photographer

Since assisting iconic photographer Corinne Day in the early noughties, Matthew’s extensive career has seen him shooting campaigns for brands such as Jaeger, Next, New Look, Harrods, M&S and John Lewis. His editorial shoots have graced the pages of British Vogue and Vogue India, both international and UK Cosmopolitan, Grazia and Sunday Times Style and Stella.

Jordan Mitchell - MD at LMPR

Managing Director at leading talent and brand communications agency, LMPR, Jordan Mitchell has 15 years experience in the entertainment industry, starting out as a stylist before a brief stint as a journalist. Her work is rooted in cultural relevance to drive impact and change for her clients. Day-to-day, she's responsible for securing new business for the company, personal talent management and publicity alongside strategic communications and casting campaigns for global brands.

Cassandra Robinson-Brown - Global Senior PR manager Topshop

Cassandra is a London based graduate of the London College of Fashion with over 16 years PR experience. She has worked for some of the UK’s largest high street fashion retailers such as; ASOS, Topshop/Topman, River Island, Ted Baker, New Look and Marks & Spencer.

What happens once we've judged it?

Once selected, the shortlisted entrants will be contacted personally on the Instagram account that was used to enter the competition via direct message. The shortlist will have 48 hours (starting from the time the DM is sent) to confirm their availability for interview. After all the interviews have taken place, the winner will be contacted over email or Instagram direct message and will have 48 hours to confirm their availability and accept the prize. If the winner does not accept a prize within this deadline, or cannot comply with these Terms, Hearst reserves the right to offer the prize to runner(s)-up selected by the same judges. Once the prize is accepted by the winner the runners-up from the shortlist will be contacted to inform them that they have not been successful.

What happens after we've chosen you?

The winner must be available for a minimum of one day for a photoshoot in the UK (date and location to be decided by Hearst and informed to the winner). Travel on the day of the shoot along with x1 night stay of accommodation if necessary, will be arranged and paid for by Hearst as well as all shoot expenses. The shoot and equipment, including camera, will be arranged and fully funded by Hearst.
