West Asheville bakery announces closure, new pastry shop to move in
ASHEVILLE - One chapter is ending, and another is beginning for two Asheville bakeries.
On July 7, the closure of Malvern Hills Bakery, 1570 Patton Ave., was announced on the business’s social media pages:
“To start off, we want to thank all of our customers for their love, support and patience with us. You all truly helped us keep going, from the early days when we were getting into our groove as a business to the challenging times that the last couple of years have brought us.
All this being said, it is with a great sadness that we have to announce that we have reached a point where we can no longer keep things running, and we will be closing down.”
The message was signed by the owner and baker, Alex Goodwin.
The post said Malvern Hills Bakery’s final days of operations will be the July 9 weekend.
In January 2019, Malvern Hills Bakery opened. Previously, it was NorthStar Bakehouse.

The commercial site will be inhabited by a new tenant, French Broad Pantry, owned by Dune Pierre Michel. The artisan bakery specializes in French pastries, such as pastries, cream puffs, tarts and quiches.
