West Central, Illini West girls basketball teams open season with victories

Shelby Bowman poured in a game-high 21 points to lead the West Central High School girls basketball team to a 40-34 victory over ROWVA in the season opener Monday at the Cranberry Classic in Oneida, Illinois.

Addie Seitz added eight points for the Heat, while Harlee Hainds finished with five points, Lauren Winters scored three points, Sam Meyer had two points and Bailey Ryan had one point.

West Central plays Knoxville in the Cranberry Classic at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

ILLINI WEST 27, ILLINI BLUFFS 25: Rylee Reed scored 11 points, Reagan Reed had 10 points and Madison Quisenberry added five points to lead the Chargers to victory in the opening round of the Macomb Thanksgiving Tournament.

Illini West plays Havana at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Macomb Thanksgiving Tournament.
