West central Minnesota reports 7 new COVID-19 cases and no deaths in Tuesday's state report; state lists 11 deaths and 256 new cases

May 25—WILLMAR — No deaths and seven new cases of COVID-19 cases in the area were reported in Tuesday's state update from the Minnesota Health Department.

New cases were reported in three of the 11 counties tracked by the West Central Tribune — five in Stearns County and one each in Kandiyohi and Swift counties.

Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Meeker, Pope, Redwood, Renville and Yellow Medicine counties listed no new cases in the Tuesday report.

The state reported 11 deaths and 256 new cases.

The state's cumulative number of cases is now 599,477.

Of the cumulative number of cases, 42,530 of them have been among health care workers.

The state's current total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is 7,381. Most of the deaths, 4,416, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, and 6,013 of the people who have died were 70 or older.

The information was included in the latest daily situation update from the Minnesota Department of Health, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

Since the start of the pandemic, the number of COVID-19 cases among residents confirmed to reside in area counties and the number of deaths includes:

Big Stone County: 603 cases; 4 deaths

Chippewa County: 1,534 cases; 38 deaths

Kandiyohi County: 6,606 cases; 84 deaths

*

Lac qui Parle County: 755 cases; 22 deaths

*

Meeker County: 2,605 cases; 40 deaths

*

Pope County: 1,120 cases; 6 deaths

*

Redwood County: 1,754 cases; 37 deaths

*

Renville County: 1,814 cases; 45 deaths

Stearns County: 22,441 cases; 223 deaths

Swift County: 1,065 cases; 18 deaths

Yellow Medicine County: 1,146 cases; 20 deaths

The state also reports daily vaccine administration numbers. As of Tuesday's report, 2,863,854 people have received at least one dose and 2,512,458 have completed the vaccine series statewide.

According to the figures available Tuesday, the percentage of individuals age 12 and over who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine in area counties includes:

The vaccine data web page is updated at 11 a.m. daily, but it can take up to 48 hours for data to be reported to the state and processed.
