West Ham United captain Kurt Zouma reportedly had around £100,000 in cash and jewellery stolen from his home following a burglary at the weekend.

Essex Police were called to the French footballer’s £3 million home shortly before midnight on Saturday.

Thieves were understood to have taken items including jewellery and watches worth an estimated £100,000.

It is believed intruders did not come into contact with Zouma’s family during the burglary.

The raid meant Zouma, 29, missed his team’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.

On Monday, West Ham said that the club was offering a £25,000 reward for information that could trace the gang.

“To have someone break into your home is a terrifying experience,” said West Ham joint-chair David Sullivan.

“I hope this reward will help bring the individuals to justice and prevent others from going through a similar ordeal.”

A source told The Sun newspaper that Zouma was left in shock following the burglary.

They said: “Kurt and the family were put through an horrific ordeal, and are still struggling to speak about what happened.

“Everyone at the club immediately knew it was incredibly serious – as he would not have missed a game otherwise. But the raid is why he was not available on Sunday.

“It is a terrible thing to have happened – and everyone at the club is offering him their full support.”

Essex Police are investigating.
