West Holmes, Dalton players highlight all-district selections

West Holmes swept the Division IV East District awards and Dalton earned nine overall honorees in the Div. VI Northeast Inland District to highlight local all-district selections. Twenty-six players from local teams earned first-team all-district distinction.

Mason Wolfe won Offensive Player of the Year, Elisha Baldridge earned Defensive Player of the Year and Zach Gardner won co-Coach of the Year with Lisbon Beaver's Mike McKenzie in Div. IV of the East District. Sam Williams-Dixon, Kyle Maltarich, Collin Gardner, Nick Ginsburg and Elijah Williams-Dixon were also first-teamers, giving the Knights an area-best seven players on a top district team.

All other local schools were a part of the Northeast Inland District. Dalton led Wayne County schools with five first-team all-district selections, with Grant Johnson, Colin Jones, Quentin Lehman, Greyson Siders and Ethan Stutz all earning first-team honors.

Norwayne's Jake Gill also earned a big accolade after a big senior year, grabbing co-Offensive Player of the Year honors in Div. V. His teammate Eli Stanley also earned first-team all-district as a defensive back.

Other first-teamers in Div. V included Orrville's Sawyer Hamsher, Smithville's Luke Raines, Triway's Luke Belcher and Waynedale's Jeremy Reber.

In Div. VI, Northwestern was well-represented after going 8-2 during the regular season and earning a share of the WCAL title. Craig Reed, Ethan Siders and Nolan Hartsel each earned first-team nods. Loudonville's Zach Frankford and Micah Simpson also earned first-team selections.

Hillsdale also earned three first-team selections in Div. VII, with Jake Hoverstock, Braylen Jarvis and Max Vesper earning their spots.

In a loaded Div. II, Wooster's Michael Howman-Williams earned a second-team selection at linebacker. Defensive lineman Tyler Boreman was honorable mention.

Local Div. VI second teamers (Div. V and VII did not have a second team): Dalton's Grayson Lehman, Cade Mullet and Sammy Tomlinson; Loudonville's James Henley and Aiden Wolford; Northwestern's Collin Good and Gavin Phillip; Rittman's Tyler Thompson and Tuslaw's Jakobe Baker, Troy Harbeitner and Tommy Snyder.

Local honorable mention players: Dalton's Alex Hess; Orrville's Brant Besancon, Greg Smiley, Asiah Smith and Shane Troyer; Norwayne's Aidan Hackworth and Jay Hanzie; Northwestern's Anthony Huber; Rittman's Artie Sonego; Smithville's Ashton Brummage and Josh Davis; Triway's Kaleb Duessenberry and Tuslaw's Jackson Geier.

West Holmes also had three players earn second-team All-East District: Logan Zollars, Landyn Dye and Korben Felton. Jack Marmet, Owen Jeffries, Zevin Proper and Nate Fair were honorable mention for West Holmes.
