WEST MAYFIELD — A seat on borough council was recently decided in a tiebreaker sortition, or selection by lottery system, at the Beaver County Courthouse.

There were three four-year spots on council during the Nov. 2 election.

In official election results, council President William Heaton received the most votes with 133, followed by challenger William Sepp Jr. with 130 votes.

Challenger Jeffrey Seybert and Councilman Eli Kosanovich each had 128 votes, challenger Licia Cogley had 89 votes, and there were nine write-in votes that were not assigned.

Beaver County Director of Elections Colin Sisk said Seybert won during the sortition drawing, making him the winner of the third spot on council.
