West Michigan MegaStar Meet held in Lowell

The Sturgis Middle School track and field team completed it season on Wednesday.

There were nine members of the team who competed at the West Michigan Middle School MegaStar Meet. It was held in Lowell.

Both Centreville and White Pigeon had athletes competing at the event as well.

Sturgis finished 11th overall in the Middle School Big division with 21.5 points. Taking first place was Cedar Springs with 95.5 followed by East Rockford in second with 77, Zeeland in third with 73.5, Allendale in fourth with 62.5 and Pinewood in fifth with 52.

White Pigeon tied for 14th in the boy’s event with five points in the small division. The White Pigeon girls finished 14th at 13.5 points while Centreville was 16th with three points in the small division.

Kaicee Kyle of Sturgis claimed second place overall in the 200 meters, he ran a time of 25.02 seconds in that event.

Sydney McClure also took second place in an event for White Pigeon. She tossed a distance of 33-2.

Kyle also ran to fifth place in the 100 dash. He posted a time of 12.12 seconds in that race.

Jason Torres completed the high jump at 5-3, which was good for fourth place overall.

In the mile relay, Sturgis also claimed fourth position. The team of Aiden Gorham, Kyle, Wyatt Miller and Dane VanNest completed the race with a time of 3:59.89.

Maddix Jancasz of White Pigeon finished fourth in the 70 meter dash at 9.42 seconds.

In the 400 run, Sturgis’ Wyatt Miller at 59.12 seconds, Gorham ran the race at 59.23 seconds.

Joel Smith completed the mile run at 5:19.92, that was good for 15h position.

In shot put action, Gavan Miller was 18th overall at 34-7.

Tessa Hatt ran a time of 2:42.17 for 14th overall in the 800 run.

Kenzie Eicher ran both relay races. She posted a time of 10.34 seconds in the 55 meters for ninth place, she had a time of 34.11 seconds for 11th in the 200 meters. Eicher also placed 11th overall in the long jump event, leaping 13-9.5 feet.

Sadie McDaniel of White Pigeon was third in the shot put, her distance was 32-9.

Mary Stears of Centreville finished sixth in the shot put, her distance was 31-5.5 feet.
