PLAIN TWP. - A West Salem woman died in a three-vehicle crash Monday night on U.S. Route 250 near Smyser Road in Wayne County which closed that area of the road for four hours, according to a news release from the State Highway Patrol.
Courtney A. Kovacs, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which took place at about 10:19 p.m., the release said.

According to the release, a 2007 Honda Pilot driven by a 44-year-old Nova man was westbound on Route 250 when it went left of center into the path of a 2014 Ford Focus going eastbound driven by Kovacs. After the collision, the Ford Focus went off the right side of the roadway and the Honda Pilot spun out and was struck by a 2008 Acura RD driven by a 22-year-old Jeromesville man that was going eastbound, the State Highway Patrol reported.
The driver of the Honda Pilot was transported to Wooster Community Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and the driver of the Acura RDX sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene, according to the release. .
Other agencies assisting at the crash scene were Wooster Township Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
