Projected depth chart

Wide receivers: Noah Bogardus, Sr.; Tyrie Tipton, Soph.; Hunter Kaufman, Jr.; Kenneath Redd Jr., Jr.; Tyler Sweet, Sr.; Tyshawn Buckner, Soph.; Brody Sutterfield, Soph.; Ryan Cosper, Fr.; Gervin McCarthy, Fr.; Rafe Butcher, R-Fr.; John Jennings, Soph.; Christian Marshall, R-Fr.; Blake Waters, Soph.

Tight ends: Jeremie Karngbaye, Sr.; Maxwell Perez, Jr.; Shakell Brown, Soph.; Reagan Cochran, R-Fr.; Brennan Ray, Fr.; Junior Tuipulotu, Fr.

Returning stats leaders: Senior wideout Noah Bogardus returns after leading the team in receiving last season with 38 receptions for 689 yards (18.1 YPC) and four touchdowns. Sophomore Tyrie Tipton will also return to the lineup after grabbing 27 catches for 433 yards (16.0 YPC) and one touchdown last fall. Other returning receivers include juniors Hunter Kaufman (eight catches, 174 yards, TD) and Kenneath Redd Jr. (seven catches, 49 yards). At tight end, the Buffs will have experienced senior Jeremie Karngbaye coming back after catching seven passes for 53 yards and one score in 2021. The only other tight end to record a reception last season was junior Maxwell Perez, who notched two receptions for 11 yards.

Notable losses: WT will be without Markell Stephens-Peppers, who nabbed 13 catches for 228 yards and four touchdowns last season. The 5-foot-11 wideout will suit up for Indiana Wesleyan this fall. The Buffs will also move forward without Caleb Ollison (19 catches, 221 yards, 2 TD) and former tight end Jordan Johnson (3 catches, 39 yards).

In short: The Buffs will return three of their top five receivers from the 2021 season and add a talented transfer senior wideout from Division I Middle Tennessee State in Tyler Sweet. Each player will be expected to build on their previous season and the wide receiver and tight end groups should make for solid targets for quarterback Nick Gerber.

Stock: Up. With expected development out of their returning contributors and the addition of players such as Sweet at receiver, the Buffs' passing game should see a notable improvement over last season. The WT receivers struggled to get separation downfield in 2021 and that will be a main factor in WT's success through the air.
