West Texas A&M sports: Green earns LSC weekly honors, Buffs drop to No. 12 in NABC poll
West Texas A&M freshman sprinter DeOndra Green was named the Lone Star Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Green earned the weekly honor for the first time in her career following her performance in the 60-meter at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Montreal, Quebec native clocked a time of 7.45 seconds in the event, marking the second-fastest time in school history, just .04 seconds short of former Lady Buff Kennedy Hudson's record set in 2018.

She finished second overall at the meet with the provisional mark and now has the third-fastest time in Division II this season. Green's time leads the Lone Star Conference in the 60m followed by teammates Leah Belfield and Jordanae Scott in second and third.
WT will return for split competition action this weekend. Some members will compete at the Texas Tech Invitational on Jan. 28 and 29 in Lubbock while other members will return to Albuquerque for the UNM Team Open on Jan. 29.
