West Texas A&M's online MBA program places among top 10 in country by Fortune Magazine
West Texas A&M University’s online MBA program ranks among the Top 10 in the country, according to Fortune Magazine.
The magazine announced the ranking earlier this month, with the university placing ninth in the nation for its online MBA program, which is part of the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business.
The university's ranking rose from its 2021 Fortune ranking, where WTAMU's program placed No.12.
"This just attests to the high quality that we offer here. ... One of the best things about our program is that we emphasize, and still are able to offer a personalized experience for each individual that comes through our doors. This recognition shows that we are doing right by our community and our students," said Robert King, associate dean of the graduate business program at WT.
More than 100 programs were surveyed across the country. The determining factors for the ranking were made up of three components: Program Score, Fortune 1000 Score, and Brand Score. Program Score was based responses to a questionnaire sent to schools; the Fortune 1000 Score was determined by tallying the number of MBA alumni who are executives at Fortune 1000 companies; and the Brand Score measured brand strength to be included in the final evaluation.
This year's No. 1 ranking went to the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, with WT's MBA program ranking above programs at the University of Arizona and Syracuse University, among others.
Among the qualities cited by the magazine, WT was recognized for its graduation rate of 94 percent within three years.

This is an external validation of all the efforts put in by our faculty, staff, and students. These rankings reflect the overall quality of our MBA program and our faculty and show the college’s dedication to innovation and being agile. The rankings reflect our commitment to providing a rigorous MBA program that remains relevant to working professionals.”
According to King, the Fortune ranking is another addition to the long list of recognition that the Engler College of Business has received throughout the year.
The Princeton Review ranked WT’s online MBA program at No. 19 on its Top 50 list, in the fourth consecutive year the university has made the Top 25 ranking on the prestigious list.
The master of science in finance and economics and the master of professional accounting degree programs ranked No. 4 in Texas and No. 30 overall in U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 rankings, and the MBA program also ranked No. 4 in the state.
Intelligent.com ranked 52 WT programs among the best in the country, including several business degrees. And WT’s master of science in finance and economics ranked No. 2 in TFE Times’ most recent listings.
"This just adds onto other rankings and recognitions that we've already gotten, such as the Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report that validates the work that we are doing. ... For us to be highly ranked in each of those shows just how good the program actually is," King said.
