Westborough firefighter injured battling house fire. Cause of blaze unknown

WESTBOROUGH — A firefighter suffered a minor injury while fighting a house fire Thursday morning on Brewer Drive, authorities said.

The cause of the fire at 2 Brewer Drive is not known and remains under investigation, Westborough fire officials said in a press release.

The Fire Department arrived at the home 6 minutes after a 911 call at 5:13 a.m., according to the release.

“Firefighters conducted a primary search for occupants and coordinated (a) fire attack and ventilation to extinguish the fire,” fire officials said. “Occupants were determined not to be home at the time of the fire.”

The Southborough and Northborough fire departments provided mutual aid at the scene while the Hopkinton Fire Department provided station coverage. The fire was extinguished “quickly,” according to Westborough fire officials.

Fire officials estimate the blaze caused about $200,000 worth of damage.

Built in 1993, the Colonial-style home was most recently assessed at $708,400, according to Westborough property records.
