Western Springs Restaurant Cited By Health Department

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A Western Springs restaurant is one of 84 across suburban Cook County to receive citations since last month on charges of violating the governor's indoor dining ban.

Hillgrove Tap, 800 Hillgrove Ave., was sent a citation related to indoor dining Dec. 7, according to a news release from the Cook County Public Health Department. Gov. J.B. Pritzker has ordered a ban on indoor dining, citing an increase in coronavirus cases.

A Hillgrove Tap manager answering the phone Monday told Western Springs Patch he could not speak on the issue, saying he would leave a message for comment with the owner.

So far, no restaurants have been cited in La Grange, La Grange Park or Riverside.

Five restaurants in Brookfield have been cited on charges of violating the indoor dining ban: Cordial Inn, Sebastian's Ale & Whiskey House, Brookfield Breakfast, Ryan's Public House and Phil's Sports Bar and Grill, according to the news release.

Sebastian's, Brookfield Breakfast, Ryan's and Phil's were also cited on charges of inadequate spacing. Sebastian's and Phil's were additionally cited on violations of the mask requirement.

Two Indian Park restaurants — Wolf's Head Restaurant and Driftwood Lodge — also have been cited.

Last month, Western Springs' village president said the village would alert the health department about any restaurants offering service in violation of the indoor dining ban.

Recent spot checks by Patch found four restaurants in Elmhurst and two in Hinsdale violating the ban.

Patch has left a message with the spokeswoman for the DuPage County Health Department to see whether that agency has issued any citations.
