Westerville ArtsLine: June calendar features full slate of offerings

A remarkable June arts calendar is loaded with theater, live music, exhibits and art classes for all to enjoy.

Tuesdays – JC Lunch Break Concerts, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Live music on the brick walk at Java Central, 20 S. State St.

Saturdays – Art at Westerville farmers market, 9 a.m. to noon. Crafts for children at the Arts Council tent, 21 S. State St. behind City Hall.

June 1-11, 15-25 – Celebrating Sunbear Gallery’s 26 years in business. Sales are to be 20% or more off during the gallery clearance at 22 W. Main St.

June 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 – Artful Adventures, 3 to 4 p.m. Children ages 6 to 11 are to complete a different creative activity each week. Register at westervillelibrary.org.

June 2-5 – Westerville Parks & Recreation Civic Theatre’s production of “Junie B. Jones Jr. the Musical,” 7 p.m. Performance at Alum Creek Park Amphitheater, 221 W. Main St. For tickets, go to westerville.org/registration.

June 4 – Artists at Hanby House, 1 to 4 p.m. Community Artists of Westerville Gail McKay and Nikki Aves are to display and discuss their art in the garden at 160 W. Main St.

June 12, 19 and 26 – Sounds of Summer concert series. 6:30 p.m. Performances include June 12, Sweet Adelines; June 19, Westerville Community Concert Band and Big Band celebrating Father’s Day; and June 26, Brett Newski at Alum Creek Park North amphitheater, 221 W. Main St.

June 6-30 – Community Artists of Westerville Summer Art Show. Winners are to be posted following judging and reception June 12 at Westerville Community Center, 350 N. Cleveland Ave.

June 9-12, 16-18 – Otterbein Summer Theatre presents “Mrs. Mannerly.” Quick-paced classroom comedy is set in the 1960s. Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St. Tickets at box office or call 614-823-1109.

June 7 – Crafting with the Council: Felted Birds, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Create birds from hand-spun wool at Good Vibes Winery. Register at artscouncilofwesterville.com.

June 4, 5, 11, 18 and 25 – Live Music at Java Central, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Acts include Caroline and Dad, Lil’ Red and the Rooster (Sunday 5 to 7 p.m.), The Castros, HAWA and Rick Barr and Family. Free at 20 S. State St.

June 17 – Pride and Spirit of America, 6:30 p.m. The musical tribute by Generations Performing Arts Company honors the armed services. Ticket information is available at 614-794-3298.

Begins June 17 – The Art of Intuition VII. Rotating exhibit and sale features abstract art of David Myers and studio artists at David Myers Art Studio & Gallery, 7 W. Main St.

June 14 – Sip & Sketch Art Session, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Use acrylic paint on canvas to create sunrises and sunsets at Good Vibes Winery. Register at artscouncilofwesterville.com.

June 24 – Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Fourth Friday Festival, 6 to 9 p.m. Summer Concert by The Ark Band at City Hall courtyard, sponsored by the Arts Council of Westerville. Music by Bob McCann and Amy Evans, original art and children’s crafts are to be on Arts Alley at West Main Street.
