The festive month of October brings crafting, painting, music, theater and art exhibits galore.

October Calendar

October − Artwork from the 1920s. Etchings and pencil drawings by Earl McKinney are to be exhibited at Inspired Gallery, 259 N. State St., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Oct.-Nov. − “Colour Works: Children's Paintings & Orange Shirt Day as Acts of Reconciliation" − Included are images of Canada’s Orange Shirt Day and paintings by children at Alberni Indian Residential School. Fisher Gallery, 27 S. Grove St.

Oct.-Nov. − “Coping Mechanisms: Art at the Intersection of Race and Mental Health” Twelve artists address the theme with photography, video, painting and sculpture. Miller Gallery, 33 Collegeview Road.

October − Art at Java Gallery. Works by Said Oladejo Lawal and Rob Mandell are to be on display at Java Central, 20 S. State St.

Fridays & Saturdays − Uptown Westerville Ghost Story Tours by Good Medicine Productions, 7 and 9 p.m. Performers share ghost stories while leading audiences through uptown. Tickets at uptownwestervilleinc.com.

Saturdays − Live Music at Java Central Café, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Acts include Avalon Nine, Brickwalk Nights, Long Tall Deb and Colin John, and Lil’ Red and the Rooster. Free at 20 S. State St.

Oct. 1 & 8 − Kids' crafts at Saturday farmers market, 9 a.m. to noon at Arts Council of Westerville's tent, 21 S. State St., behind City Hall.

Oct. 2 − Daylight Juried Show Opening Reception, 2 to 4 p.m. Works by 36 artists explore the “daylight” theme. Hosted by Daylight Artist Collective, 9 E. College Ave., Third Floor. Art workshop sign-ups at daylightartistcollective.com/events.

Oct. 21-Nov. 6 − Curtain Players present “Eleemosynary.” In this drama, freethinking women attempt to reconcile years of family dysfunction. For tickets, go to curtainplayers.org.

Oct. 25 − Meet the Author: Nick Offerman, 7 to 8 p.m. Onstage conversation features actor, writer and woodworker Nick Offerman at Otterbein’s Cowan Hall. Registration required at westervillelibrary.org.

Oct. 28 − Arts at Fourth Friday Festival, 6 to 8:30 p.m. A craft for kids is sponsored by Arts Council of Westerville at Arts Alley on West Main Street.
