Westerville ArtsLine: Writing contest accepting original works for judging and publication

Writers of all ages are invited to channel their imagination, share their talents and become a published author by entering the 17th-annual Celebrate the Arts Writing Contest.

Arts Council of Westerville and Westerville Public Library are welcoming submissions of original writing starting Jan. 2. Submit writings to artscouncilwesterville@gmail.com.

January arts events

Art at Java Gallery – Works by Community Artists of Westerville: Oil paintings, watercolor, pencil and photography by a dozen artists are on display and for sale at 20 S. State St.

Weekends – Live Music at Java Central Café, 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Acts include Long Tall Deb and Colin John (Jan. 7); String Theory (Jan. 14); Steven Stanley (Jan. 21); Lil’ Red and The Rooster (Jan. 22, 5-7 p.m.); and Dave Hawkins (Jan. 28). Free at 20 S. State St.

Jan. 2 – Teen Art Café, 2 to 4 p.m. Ages 12 to 18 can drop by and create art. All supplies are provided at Westerville Public Library, 126 S. State St.
