Out & About: Westmoreland Museum hosts holiday happy hour

Dec. 18—"Let It Snow" was the theme for the Dec. 9 Art on Tap 2.0 happy hour at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg.

Well, the weatherman didn't deliver on that one, but no matter — there was plenty of holiday and wintertime fun to be had anyway.

On the museum terrace, illuminated by the Winter Lights display, guests took advantage of the relatively mild evening to assemble a sweet treat at the s'mores bar and toast it at the fire pit.

Inside, there was a "Seasons Eatings" hors d'oeuvres buffet and specialty beverage bar, featuring a red sangria with spices and seasonal fruits, a spice-rum eggnog and cranberry mule.

Guided by museum staffers Darrah Resnick and Hannah Vincent, contestants in the Ugly (or Not) Sweater Contest descended the glass staircase of the atrium to a round of applause from other partygoers. Danna Kromer garnered the most votes for her gingerbread man-inspired cape.

Other participants included Josh and Kary Milan, Robin Jennings, Anthony Berardi, Kelly Wassel, Tania Nunn and Wendy Hager, who wore a red Santa-style top, complete with black belt and silver buckle, that she created from duct tape.

Speaking of gingerbread men, attendees also combed the museum galleries for a scavenger hunt of the gingerbread images inspired by artworks in the collection.

Committee for the Westmoreland member Sally Loughran presided over a raffle table with prizes including wine and other merry-making merchandise.

The Joey Caporali Duo provided background music.

Making the scene: Gary and Cindy Soltys, Jack and Doris Wood, Todd Wassel, Jim and Jackie Willkomm, George and Cindy McFarland, Barbara Ferrier, Jim and Karen O'Connor, Gay Wasserman, Doug and Jan Bailey, Jim Galik and Jean Slusser, Mary Kaufman, Tom Harrold, Sara Deegan, Christina Allaback, Paul and Kearsten Adams, Cliff Nunn, Teri Berardi, Eleanor Nusselt, Annamarie Hurley, Jan Ritsko, Dave Walder, Tracy Showman, Terri Jupena and Patsy Boggs.
