'Westmoreland Has Talent' fundraiser to feature ex-Steelers QB Charlie Batch
Mar. 11—Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch will be the special guest at Westmoreland Diversity Coalition's annual karaoke fundraiser.
Just don't expect him to pick up the microphone.
Batch will be signing autographs and taking photos with guests at Westmoreland Has Talent, set for 6 p.m. March 25 in the event space at Live Casino Pittsburgh at Westmoreland Mall.
"He won't be singing — that would be nice, but we won't push him," said event organizer and WDC co-founder Carlotta Paige.
Batch has donated some signed football memorabilia that will be auctioned during the evening.
Performers returning from last year's showcase include Robert Gregerson, president of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, and Westmoreland County Commissioner Doug Chew and his wife, Cyndi.
The Chews were voted audience favorite act for their rendition of "Unforgettable," by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole.
Also on the bill are Jeff Abramowitz, Westmoreland County Food Bank director of employee engagement and culture; Erica Adams, Seton Hill University advancement service manager; Michel Keller, Private Industry Council vice president of workforce education and development; Brittany Sines, school-based mentoring coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region; and Chelsea Weid, WDC executive administrative assistant.
Cpl. Aaron Allen, a Greensburg native and liaison officer in the Pennsylvania State Police Heritage Affairs Section, will be master of ceremonies.
"There also will be a few surprises, but I can't reveal them," Paige said.
Evening attire is suggested for attendees. A ticket is $75; a cash bar will be available.
