Westport Fall Festival is this weekend

Oct. 11—Looking for something fun and inexpensive to do this weekend? Consider a drive to southern Decatur County where the annual Westport Main Street Fall Festival is taking place Friday evening and throughout the day Saturday. There will be plenty to see, do and eat as well as a chance to meet television personality Ernie "Turtleman" Brown Jr.!

Centered around the Westport Community Building, 205 W. Main Street, and the public park adjacent to it, this year's fall festival kicks off Friday evening with a pork chop dinner from 5 to 8 p.m.

Main Street Westport President Connie Davis reports that the delicious pork chop dinner that used to be offered in conjunction with the Westport Covered Bridge Festival is back by popular demand! For just $15, you'll get a grilled pork chop, cheesy potatoes, green beans, applesauce, a dinner roll, cookie and choice of drink.

Also from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, bring the kids to the outfield of the park's baseball diamond for a Touch A Truck event that will give them a chance to see emergency response vehicles up close, and "Duckling Derby" tickets will be on sale in the Community Building.

Saturday's activities and attractions run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and include a wide range of vendors, a parade, music, a costume contest, the crowning of Little Mr. and Mrs. Westport Fall Festival, carriage rides, cake walks and door prize give-aways every 30 minutes.

"It's a fun couple of days of activities and entertainment for the community," Davis said. "We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the day."

Vendor set-up starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and there are still a few spots available. Those interested should call Davis at 812-614-9764.
