Some customers were very generous at a local lemonade stand recently, paying $50 or $100 for a cup, with a very good cause in mind.

The lemonade stand was held by Greycen and Grant Pacheco, who set out to raise money for a friend with Down syndrome. They did this as part of Lemonade Day, a national project that encourages children to organize lemonade stands to learn skills like budgeting and planning.

They managed to raise more than $5,000.

Picturesque waterfront property in Swansea sells for over $1M

The latest Greater Fall River real estate report featured a turn-of-the-century home in Swansea that sold for $1,101,250.

The waterfront property on Seaview Avenue was built in 1905 and features numerous built-ins, a fireplace, and is filled with water-view windows throughout. There's also a spacious kitchen, cozy living room, and oversized deck.

SouthCoast Wind, Prysmian plan public meeting in Swansea

Two companies planning to bring the wind industry to Greater Fall River, will hold an informational community meeting in Swansea in July.

SouthCoast Wind and Prysmian Group are both planning construction projects related to the wind industry just across the Lee River, at Brayton Point in Somerset.

Swansea is planning to host a meeting this month with representatives from both companies; get the details right here.

Edwin Porter wrote the first book on the Lizzie Borden killings. Help honor his memory.

Edwin H. Porter, a reporter for the Fall River Daily Globe, published “The Fall River Tragedy: A History of the Borden Murders” two months after the trial of Lizzie Borden and made history.

His was the first book-length work written on the case.

He died not too many years later, in 1904, aged only 39. He was buried in an unmarked grave in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River.

It’s an injustice that his grave has no stone, said author, historian and Borden expert Stefani Koorey. She’s started a GoFundMe campaign to raise the money to finally buy a marker for Porter, one that will honor his memory and his legacy.
