Wet weather is set to hit North Jersey Thursday evening into Friday, with snow a possibility in the northwestern parts of Passaic County.

The rain could start as early as Thursday afternoon in Bergen and Passaic counties. It's forecast to continue through mid-day Friday.

"For a large majority of Bergen and southeastern Passaic counties, it's going to be on the rain side," National Weather Service meteorologist David Stark said. "If you're talking west, in the higher elevation parts of Passaic County, in the West Milford area and so forth, there's a good chance of snow, or at least starting off as snow."

Stark said the snow is likely only going to be 1 to 3 inches, and after midnight Friday, all the snow is likely to turn into rain.

Other than the rain, Stark said there are concerns regarding wind conditions, with sustained gusts of 15 to 20 miles per hour, and potentially up to 30 miles per hour in the forecast. The strongest winds are likely to hit Friday.

In a Tweet, Gov. Phil Murphy urged residents to "exercise caution" with snow in the forecast.

The weather should clear up in time for the weekend.
