WFISD to mull chaplain policy, Memorial scoreboard replacement

The Wichita Falls ISD School Board will meet at noon Tuesday to consider setting a chaplain policy, purchasing a scoreboard replacement package for Memorial Stadium, buying band uniforms and other items.

Trustees are set to consider taking action on a chaplain policy to comply with a new state law, Senate Bill 763. Approved in 2023, the new law allows chaplains to perform any support, service, or program in school districts, including the duties of school counselors beginning this school year.

Pending the School Board's approval, the project will begin as soon as possible and take about eight weeks.

In addition, trustees will also consider buying band uniforms for Memorial and Legacy high schools for $241,650. Budgeted bond funds would buy 300 uniforms for each high school to have the variety of sizes needed.

Trustees will see a presentation on the roof restoration during Tuesday's meeting at the WFISD Education Center downtown. The agenda item is marked for future action. But they may take action on the Hirschi refresh.
