She may look like the average three-month-old, but ‘little’ Olivia is actually a newborn.

The super-size baby weighed a whopping 6.13kg – over 13 lbs 8oz - at birth, and measured 54cm (21in) long.

Olivia was delivered via caesarean due to her unusual size, which made her the biggest baby ever born at the Cipolletti Clinic in the southern Argentine province of Rio Negro.

Local media reports that Olivia is under supervision but is apparently in good health.

Her mother, Maria Fernanda Basly, is also doing well, and is looking forward to receiving the all clear to leave the clinic with her heavyweight new arrival.

Despite the baby being a record in the region, according to the Guinness World Book of Records the record for the heaviest baby in the world is shared.

Canadian Anna Haining Bates, who herself was a massive 7ft 11in, gave birth to an unnamed baby boy weighing a whopping 9.98kg – or 22 lbs.

The baby, like his mother, was also very large, measuring 71.12cm (28in). Her baby was not officially named and unfortunately died 11 hours after it was born back in 1879.

The other infant who shares the record is considered to be the heaviest baby born to a healthy mother. Weighing 10.2kg (22lbs 8oz), he was born to Carmelina Fedele from Aversa, Italy, in 1955.
