Whataburger announces second store location in Murfreesboro
Whataburger will open its third Nashville-area store at 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, at 630 S. Cumberland St. in Lebanon.
And the opening of Murfreesboro's first Whataburger at 1835 Old Fort Parkway is right around the corner, a company spokesperson confirmed to The Daily News Journal, followed by another store at 360 W. Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna.
The company also announced a second location in Murfreesboro will open at 1944 Memorial Blvd. in mid-2023.

A city official confirmed the store will be on the corner lot of Memorial and Airport Road, across the street from AdamsPlace and Walmart.
Stores have recently opened in Hermitage and Gallatin.
Other locations coming to the Middle Tennessee area include:
1715 Gallatin Pike N., Madison — late 2022
450 TN-109, Lebanon — late 2022
11190 Lebanon Road, Mt. Juliet — early 2023
4933 Main St., Spring Hill — mid 2023
A petition to urge Whataburger to return to Middle Tennessee was circulating in 2019 and quickly garnered more than 6,600 signatures.
The first Nashville Whataburger opened in the 1950s in Dickerson Pike in Nashville, followed by locations in Rivergate, Charlotte Avenue and Nolensville Road in the Elysian Fields area. You couldn't miss the orange and white motif A-frame roofs on the Whataburger drive-ins. Those locations closed decades ago.
But the chain made its way into Tennessee with the openings earlier this year in Hermitage and Gallatin, followed by Monday's opening in Lebanon.
