GINA DELISE: I'm on a mission to find the best chocolate chip cookie in New York City. So today, I'm visiting five bakeries in Manhattan and choosing my favorite. First up is Schmackary's. This bakery has over 75 unique flavors that are always rotating. It has been located in the heart of the theater district since 2012 and is a favorite among Broadway fans and creatives.

This cost $3.75. And it is the cheapest of the cookies, but also the smallest of the cookies. So let's see how it tastes. This was great. It's definitely on the crunchier side. It's flatter, as you can see. But there's some salt in there that combats the sweetness. It was really nice. Our second stop is City Cakes. Open since 2007, this Chelsea-based bakery is well known not only for their stunning cake artistry, but also for other baked goods, including their signature half-pound cookies.

It is a $6 cookie, which was the most expensive. But it is half a pound. It's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, which I really like. The flavor's great. But it does remind me more of a cookie cake than a traditional chocolate chip cookie. Next up is Chip City. This bakery opened in 2017 in Astoria, Queens. And they now have 12 locations. Their chocolate chip cookie is a staple. And the rest of the menu changes daily.

This cost $4.50. I would say the size is about the same as Levain and Gooey on the Inside. So let's see how it tastes. My first thought is this is by far the sweetest cookie I've tasted today. It's good. But I almost don't know how much more I could eat of it. And I'm someone that loves sweets. Fourth on the list is Levain Bakery. Levain started in 1995 on the Upper West Side and have since expanded to have eight locations, an online store, and recently debuted frozen products in grocery stores.

And this cost $5. Crunch on the outside. Soft on the inside. Love that. It also has the most chocolate to dough ratio that I've seen so far. And I'm a chocolate lover. So I'm a fan. Our fifth and final stop is at Gooey on the Inside. They are located on the Lower East Side and specialize in cookies that are just as their name suggests.

And this cost $6, which ties it to be the most expensive cookie today with City Cakes. This is also a very sweet cookie. And it's more of a caramelly sweetness with I think different types of chocolate chips inside. After much deliberation, my official cookie ranking is Schmackary's in fifth place, Chip City in fourth, Gooey on the Inside in third, City Cakes in second, and, up first, Levain Bakery.
