What's the buzz: Brian Sweeney returns to the Wagon Wheel Bar and Grill

Pick any one of the events happening in and around the area to keep your week busy. I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities, and festivals right here, every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check all activities, as cancellations can occur. The events listed are for June 1 to 10.

As you drive through the small village of Buffalo, be sure to stop off at the Wagon Wheel Bar and Grill for some great music. Brian Sweeney is scheduled to bring his show to the venue from 8 to 11 p.m. on Friday, June 9. Sweeney has performed at numerous local establishments, including Georgetown Vineyards, Park Circle Cafe, Dogtown Saloon (Fran's Bar) and most recently at the Guernsey County Street Art Fest. There is no cover charge for the show. Wagon Wheel Bar and Grill, 11970 Clay Pike Road, Buffalo.

  • Join the Cambridge Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) for its production of "Sister Amnesia's Country Western Nunsense." The show runs at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays June 9, 10, 16, and 17 and at 3 p.m. Sundays June 11 and 18. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by visiting www.tickettailor.com.   • The Cambridge City Band will begin its 182nd season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, in the large pavilion of the Cambridge City Park. The theme for the 2023 concert season is Let's Go To The Movies. Concessions will be available. This is a free, family-friendly event. For more information call Berk Jones at 740-439-5551.   • Byesville Farmer's Market returns at 4 p.m. Thursday and runs weekly Thursdays until Sept. 28. For more information call 740-255-6911. Byesville Village Park, 216 Meek Ave., Byesville.

  • Hospice of Guernsey's annual Touch A Truck event returns to the Deerassic Education Center Saturday, June 10 for a morning of fun. The first hour will be horn free for those with sensitivities. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. Raffles will be happening and concessions will be available. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information call Hospice of Guernsey at 740-432-7440. Deerassic Park, 14250 Cadiz Road, Cambridge.

  • The National Road Yard Sale is once again taking place throughout Guernsey and Muskingum counties. Yard sale attendees can travel along US 40 and search the sales. Sale times vary throughout the four-day event, with most vendors set up on Friday and Saturday. For more information contact Donna Tauber at 765-987-7565 or Kim Couch at 765-969-7593.   • Backbone Acoustic will be playing at 7 p.m. Friday, June 9 at Park Circle Cafe. Grab some of the best wings in town and hear some killer tunes. For more information call 740-439-9061. Park Circle, 610 Park Circle, Cambridge.

  • Newcomerstown Now will hold a Second Saturday event on June 10 on Main Street that is set to include a cruise-in, chicken dinner, live music, a community resource fair, and Family Feud. The cruise-in will run from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Moonlyterz are scheduled to perform from 6 to 9 p.m. Various kids activities are scheduled throughout the day. Main Street, Newcomerstown.
